CIPR Diploma in Public Relations
The CIPR Diploma will help you develop as effective communication professional. You will be getting to grips with the theory that underpins what we do and putting it into practice on a planning assignment. You will also study research techniques and undertake an in-depth research project on a subject of your choosing.
It is a one-year course with 48 hours of tuition. You can attend lectures on either Saturdays or Wednesday evenings at Birkbeck College, London WC2 or at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) on the same site. Read the syllabus (PDF file - 103 KB).
There are three assessments:
Critical reasoning test (open book)
Planning assignment
Research project
Our experienced team will support you throughout and you will hear from guest lecturers active in both practice and/or academia. You will also receive membership on the online library Questia and the core text book.
The Diploma is right for you if:
You are an experienced PR professional without an industry specific
Qualification
You are working in any field of Public Relations, for example media relations,
internal communications, public affairs
You want to learn about the strategic roles and functions of the public
relations practitioner
Enrolment is via the CIPR. Click here for course dates. The fees are £1400 tuition fees (plus VAT), payable to PR Academy, plus CIPR fees invoiced separately by the CIPR.
With PR Academy, course fees include all tuition. You will also receive membership on the online library Questia and the core text book, "Exploring Public Relations" by Ralph Tench and Liz Yeomans.
Diploma graduates are eligible to become full members of the CIPR.
A growing number of universities recognise the Diploma in respect of their Masters' programmes (at present Manchester Metropolitan University, Leeds Metropolitan University and Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh).
