CIPR Advanced Certificate in Public Relations
The CIPR Advanced Certificate gives you an excellent grounding in both theory and practice. This PR course introduces the key theories that underpin what we do as communicators and tackles the practical aspects of our work leading to the submission of a portfolio of work. Read the syllabus.
It is a valuable qualification in its own right and also prepares you for the CIPR Diploma in Public Relations.

Our experienced team will support you throughout and you will hear from guest lecturers active in both practice and/or academia. You will also receive the core text book, “Exploring Public Relations” by Ralph Tench and Liz Yeomans.
There are three assessments:
Critical reasoning test (open book)
Portfolio
Critique (an in-depth discussion of a subject of your choice)
The Advanced Certificate is for you if:
You are interested in pursuing a career in PR
You have been working in the PR industry at fairly junior levels for at least
two years
You are working in any field of Public Relations, for example media relations,
internal communications, public affairs
Advanced Certificate graduates can become Associate Members of the CIPR and go on to study the CIPR Diploma. Advanced Certificate graduates with three years' experience in PR will be eligible for full membership.
The CIPR Advanced Certificate is accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.
It is provided in partnership with City & Guilds - the UK’s leading provider of vocational qualifications - and is awarded as a joint certificate. CIPR continues to set the syllabus, the assessment exercises, and sets the level of the award.
That level is now recorded as being at National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 5, which is set and assessed at the same standard as an ordinary first degree.
